Not every dog needs private training.
For dogs who are comfortable around people and other dogs, a well-structured group environment can be one of the best places to develop engagement, neutrality, reliability and real-world obedience.
But group training should be more than fifteen dogs standing in a circle practicing sit.
At Canine Evolutions, we use the group environment intentionally.
You will learn how to work with your dog around distractions, how to recognize changes in arousal and attention, how to communicate more clearly, and how to build skills that continue to function when the environment becomes more interesting.
The goal is not simply to teach your dog commands.
The goal is to teach you how to work together.
FALL 2026 GROUP CLASS SERIES
All three courses run for 8 consecutive Sundays from September 13 through November 1, 2026.
Tuition: $495 per dog/handler team

PUPPY FOUNDATIONS & SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT

A puppy class should be about much more than teaching sit and down.
The first months of a dog’s life help shape how that dog experiences the world, responds to stress, communicates with people, manages frustration and develops confidence.
Our 8-week Puppy Foundations & Social Development course is designed to help you build those foundations correctly from the beginning.
WE WILL WORK ON:
Engagement and relationship
Age-appropriate obedience foundations
Leash introduction and handling
Recall foundations
Settling and learning how to be calm
Appropriate social development
Neutrality around people and other dogs
Confidence in new environments
Body handling and cooperative-care foundations
Impulse control and frustration tolerance
Understanding puppy behavior and development
Preventing common problems before they become established habits
This is not an uncontrolled puppy play group.
Social development is not simply allowing puppies to interact with everything they see. We teach puppies how to experience people, dogs, environments and novelty while remaining confident, regulated and connected to their handler.

EVERYDAY OBEDIENCE & CANINE GOOD CITIZEN FOUNDATIONS

There is a difference between a dog who performs obedience at home and a dog who can remain connected to you when the real world begins competing for their attention.
This 8-week course is designed for socially appropriate dogs who need stronger obedience, better communication and more reliable everyday manners.
The curriculum also develops many of the skills associated with the AKC Canine Good Citizen level, while going deeper into the relationship and communication behind those skills.

This course is not simply about passing a test.
I want you to understand why your dog’s obedience changes when distractions increase and how your own timing, movement, reinforcement and communication affect the dog at the other end of the leash.
IMPORTANT
This class is designed for non-aggressive, non-reactive and socially appropriate dogs.
Dogs displaying significant fear, anxiety, leash reactivity, aggression, guarding or a bite history may need a different training environment before joining a group class.

ADVANCED REAL-WORLD OBEDIENCE & COMMUNITY CANINE PREP

There is a tremendous difference between a dog who knows obedience and a dog who can use that obedience when the environment becomes complicated.
This advanced 8-week course is designed for dog/handler teams who already have a solid training foundation and are ready to increase reliability, duration, distance and distraction.
The curriculum will also prepare teams for the types of real-world skills associated with AKC Community Canine / CGCA-level work.
WE WILL WORK ON:
Advanced loose-leash walking
Reliable obedience around distractions
Extended stays
Distance and duration
Recall under increasing distraction
Neutrality around people and dogs
Moving calmly through groups and public environments
Doorway and threshold control
Leave-it around real-world distractions
Handler position, timing and communication
Maintaining connection in stimulating environments
Turning practiced obedience into functional everyday reliability
The goal is not robotic obedience.
The goal is a dog who can remain connected to you and function reliably when the world becomes more interesting.
We will also spend time on the human side of advanced training: timing, body language, reinforcement, emotional regulation and understanding how increasing pressure and arousal can affect your dog’s ability to think and respond.
WHO THIS CLASS IS FOR
Dogs should already possess basic obedience skills and be comfortable working around other dogs and people.
This class is not appropriate for dogs displaying significant aggression, reactivity or anxiety in a group setting.

Completion of this course prepares teams for Community Canine-level work. Official AKC testing and title requirements are separate from course completion.

WHICH CLASS SHOULD I CHOOSE?
Choose Puppy Foundations if:
You have a young puppy and want to build social development, confidence, engagement and training foundations correctly from the beginning.
Choose Everyday Obedience if:
Your dog is socially appropriate around people and dogs but needs stronger manners, leash skills, recall, engagement and everyday obedience.
Choose Advanced Real-World Obedience if:
Your dog already has a solid obedience foundation and you are ready to increase reliability around greater distance, duration and distraction.

GROUP CLASSES ARE NOT BEHAVIOR MODIFICATION
Group classes can provide excellent training opportunities, but they are not the right environment for every dog.
Dogs experiencing significant:
Aggression
Leash reactivity
Human-directed aggression
Dog-directed aggression
Severe fear or anxiety
Resource guarding
Significant environmental sensitivity
Bite history
may require an individual behavioral evaluation and a more controlled training environment.
This is not about excluding difficult dogs.
It is about putting each dog into an environment where they can actually learn while protecting the safety and learning experience of every other dog and handler in the class.

WHAT MAKES CANINE EVOLUTIONS GROUP TRAINING DIFFERENT?
We do not simply teach exercises.
We teach you how to understand what is happening while you are doing them.
Why does your dog’s attention disappear?
Why does a behavior work at home but fall apart around other dogs?
What happens when arousal increases?
When should you ask for more?
When should you reduce pressure?
How does your body language affect your dog?
What are you reinforcing without realizing it?
Training becomes much more powerful when you stop simply asking:
“How do I make my dog do this?”
and begin asking:
“What is happening in my dog right now?”
That is where training becomes communication.
And communication is where relationship begins.
CLASS POLICIES
Enrollment is limited to 15 dog/handler teams per course.
Full tuition of $495 is required to reserve your place.
Because these courses are progressive and class space is limited, tuition covers the complete 8-week program rather than individual attendance.
Missed classes are not individually refundable or transferable.
Dogs must be appropriate for the group environment. Canine Evolutions reserves the right to recommend a different training option if a dog’s behavior creates a significant safety concern or prevents the dog or other participants from learning effectively.
Handlers are responsible for maintaining control of their dogs throughout class.
Additional class instructions and what-to-bring information will be provided to enrolled participants before the first session.
